Why do cats like to meow at humans?

Because it’s in slavery, humans communicate with each other by scent except as kittens and when the cat’s mom asks for milk.

Hey, I’ve noticed the same thing with my cat! They really do meow a lot, especially when they want attention or food. It’s cute but can be a bit much sometimes. From my experience, meowing is definitely one way cats communicate with us humans because they know we respond to it.

I read somewhere that cats actually developed their meowing behavior primarily to interact with humans. In the wild, adult cats don’t usually meow at each other that much—they mostly rely on body language and scent. So, our furry friends have kind of adapted this talking behavior just to get our attention!

If you find the meowing too frequent or annoying, you can try to figure out what they want. Sometimes it’s just about spending more playtime with them, or they could be hungry or need a clean litter box. Once their needs are met, you’ll probably notice less meowing.

Anyone else have tips on how to deal with excessive meowing?
